According to Adam Schefter, New Orleans Saints assistant scouting director Cody Rager is leaving the organization to join the Denver Broncos. According to Schefter, the Broncos are finalizing an agreement to make Rager a vice president in their scouting department.
Nick Underhill of neworleans.football reported over the weekend that the Broncos were interested in Rager. Denver’s head coach is, of course, Sean Payton, who previously led the Saints from 2006 to 2021.
Payton hired several former New Orleans assistants last offseason after his rights were traded from the Saints to the Broncos. Rager will reportedly collaborate closely with Payton and Broncos general manager George Paton.
Rager had spent nine years in the New Orleans scouting department. He started out as a team scout on the West Coast. In 2021, Rager was promoted to assistant college scouting director, reporting directly to Jeff Ireland, the Saints’ assistant General Manager and Director of College Scouting.
