In addition to making fun of Jannik Sinner for failing his doping tests, Nick Kyrgios also brought up the subject of playing doubles with Novak Djokovic.
After an independent tribunal determined that Sinner was not at fault for his two positive tests for a prohibited substance in March, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) declared in August that Sinner had escaped a ban.
Due to the presence of low quantities of the anabolic steroid clostebol on March 10 and 18, both during and after the Indian Wells Masters, the Italian celebrity failed drug tests.
The tribunal accepted Sinner’s claim that the drug had entered his body during a massage from his physical therapist, who had treated a cut on his finger with a steroid spray.
The most well-known and vocal opponent of Sinner’s case management, Kyrgios has declared that he does not accept the 23-year-old’s answer.
The 2022 Wimbledon finalist described the news as “ridiculous” on his X account. Whether it was intended or unintentional.
“You are tested twice for a prohibited substance (steroids)… It should be two years since you left. You gave a better performance. Yes, that massage cream is nice.
It was revealed last week that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) had appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), seeking to impose a ban of up to two years on Sinner.
In reply to a tweet sharing information about the appeal last week, Kyrgios wrote: “Why’s he (Sinner) still playing.”
The Australian then aimed another dig at Sinner during a Q&A with fans on his Instagram account.
“A pair with Sinner? Please,” a user posed to Kyrgios.
“I only play with CLEAN players,” the 29-year-old replied in a post on his Instagram account.
Kyrgios was also questioned about the prospect of playing doubles with Djokovic in 2025. Kyrgios is anticipated to make his much anticipated return at the Australian Open.
The former world No. 13 said that he would be willing to work with the legendary Serb, but he made it clear that Thanasi Kokkinakis is his first partner.
