JUST NOW: Police Lose Their Pursuit of a Stolen Dodge Challenger for 60 Miles at High Speed.

A 2023 Dodge Challenger was taken off the lot of an auto dealership in Waterford, Pennsylvania on Monday, and the driver who stole it is now at large.

Two automobiles, a 2024 Dodge Hornet and a 2023 Dodge Challenger, went missing after a complaint from the business informed Pennsylvania State Police of a tripped alarm at the Humes Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership on August 6.

Later that day, WJET/WFXP reported that the red Hornet crossover had been found; about an hour later, Pennsylvania State Police officers from the Erie branch apparently spotted the blue Challenger at the intersection of East 6th Street and Ash Street in Waterford and made an effort to pull over the muscle car.

The reported inability to maintain speed raises the possibility that the stolen Challenger is a V-8 type, even though we are unsure of the specific patrol car driven by the New York State Troopers involved.

Assuming the dealership hasn’t removed the stolen car from its website yet, one of the five brand-new blue 2023 Challengers listed for sale in Waterford on the Humes website are four of which are V-8-powered.)

Road & Track has contacted the Humes Dealership and the Pennsylvania State Police for comment regarding the theft and pursuit, but neither has responded.

If we hear back from either, we will update the story.
The Challenger and its driver are still wanted by the Pennsylvania State Police and the New York State Troopers. PSP Erie encourages anybody with information about the incident or who may have seen the car to contact them at (814) 898-1641.
