Erol Bulut says returning loan players Joel Bagan and Eli King have impressed in pre-season and look better for their time away last term

Bagan enjoyed a year at Belgian side SV Zulte Waragem, while King went to Morecambe and then Ross County. And both have stood out in the summer friendlies, leading many to believe they could be useful assets this term.

“Joel Bagan did really good pre-season,” Bulut said. “Eli King was good. Even when we send him for a loan last season, he had a really good season.

“We’ll have to see the final decision with the youngsters, who we’ll keep for the season and who will go for another loan. How Isaak Davies did at Kortrijk but it was unlucky he got the injury.”

Bagan has played at left centre-back throughout the course of pre-season, prompting some to wonder where he is likely to feature going forward.

When asked about his position, Bulut said: “Left-back who can play as a centre-back and I think he’s doing well. We have to push him to be more aggressive in that position, work on specific moments. He did really well in pre-season games.”

Pack ‘gutted’ Pompey missed out on Robertson
Former Bluebirds midfielder Marlon Pack has expressed his disappointment over Alex Robertson choosing Cardiff City, but wished him nothing but success in the Welsh capital.

Pack, who made over 100 appearances for the Bluebirds over three years, expressed his disappointment over Robertson opting for the Welsh capital over a Pompey return, but offered typically classy words about his old employers.

“Gutted, but wish you nothing but success, mate,” Pack said to Robertson via Instagram. “Great club with some fantastic people down there.”

Luthra signs for Derby County
Rohan Luthra has signed a one-year deal at Derby County following his departure from Cardiff.

The 22-year-old left south Wales this summer in pursuit of a new challenge and spent the summer on trial with the newly-promoted Rams.

And Paul Warne has opted to offer the goalkeeper a deal for him to sign permanently at Pride Park. Luthra made one appearance during his three years with Cardiff, coming off the bench against Preston North End after Jak Alnwick was sent off.

Watkins joins West Brom
After a stellar three-year stint with the Bluebirds, Seren Watkins has made the move to West Bromwich Albion.

In her debut season at the club, Watkins scored the decisive goal in the Adran Trophy Final against Cardiff Metropolitan University.
