Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as the Reds reportedly lead the race for Pedro of Flamengo amid interest from Tottenham and Saudi Arabia

Nottingham Forest are reportedly ‘leading the chase’ to Brazilian striker Pedro from Flamengo.

The 26-year-old is also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford, with a 25-goal year catching the eye of clubs across the globe.

According to Italian outlet TMW (via Sky Sports ), Forest are at the head of the queue for Flamengo’s signature. The Reds reportedly ‘made initial contact’ for the striker earlier this month, with that early timing perhaps putting them ahead of their rivals in the chase.

Flamengo are reportedly not willing to entertain bids below £25million for Pedro, and it’s said they will “play hard” in negotiations. Pedro has had previous interest from Saudi Arabia, as well as Brazilian rivals Palmeiras and Botafogo.

Forest are yet to make first signing of the summer, though head coach Steve Cooper has teased that news will come “soon” as Forest ramp up their work in the transfer market. The only inward move was to make Chris Wood’s loan from Newcastle permanent, but fresh faces are certainly on their way to the City Ground.

“We’re close,” Cooper said after the friendly win over Notts County. “But how close is close, I don’t know!

“We’re close on a few, to be fair. But until they get their boots and they train, then they might be miles away, who knows!”
