Done deal as Tottenham £40m Fantastic player set to join Spurs this summer

Conor Gallagher, a 23-year-old Chelsea midfielder, is currently most likely to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

According to The Telegraph, the £40 million man is also desired by West Ham.

West Ham had a deal rejected yesterday night and may be moving on to other targets now, making Tottenham the most probable club to sign the England international.

Gallagher had previously stated that he was not interested in joining Spurs, but that may have changed.

Despite his impressive pre-season form, it appears that the midfielder will leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The England international has long been coveted by Spurs and new manager Ange Postecoglou is said to be a big admirer of the player.

A move for the ‘fantastic’ midfielder could be sanctioned to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The 27-year-old Danish international seems closer to a move to Atletico de Madrid by the day.

Spurs are also credited with interest in 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder Frank Kessie.

It was reported yesterday that the La Liga midfielder is on a list of candidates to replace the outbound Hojbjerg.

All in all, it seems there are a lot of moving pieces in Tottenham’s midfield revamp this summer, and Conor Gallagher might be the next important piece of the puzzle.

Gallagher is most likely to join Tottenham.

Although Spurs appear to be the front-runners, it’s easy to see why the club isn’t Gallagher’s first choice.

Gallagher, a Chelsea academy alumnus, has made it clear that he wants to stay and compete for his spot at the club.

And, with an exit appearing increasingly inevitable, you’d imagine the midfielders’ first inclination would be to join a major London competitor.

However, with West Ham also reportedly interested in his services, the midfielder may be forced to make a difficult decision this summer.

The 23-year-old appears to be popular with England manager Gareth Southgate, and he’ll need to keep playing.

And if prospects at Chelsea are restricted due to the club’s summer instability, it may be wise to depart.

The Englishman has seven caps for his country and will look to add to that total at the UEFA Euro 2024 next summer.

And Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur could provide an excellent framework for this.
