Leeds United considering a move to sign Tottenham electrifying midfielder

Daniel Farke would like to rejoin with Oliver Skipp at Leeds United, according to Athletic journalist Phil Hay, but the Tottenham midfielder may be out of reach for the Championship club this summer.

Due to the injuries to Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma, Skipp ended up playing often for Tottenham in the second half of last season.

The Tottenham academy graduate did not light up the globe, but to be fair to the lad, he was playing in a dysfunctional squad that went through several managerial changes and finished eighth.

The 22-year-old will hope to give a better account of himself under Ange Postecoglou, and interestingly, the Australian started the England Under-21 international in a number eight role rather than as the number six in the pre-season friendly against West Ham United last week.

Leeds United are fans of Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp

Hay has now suggested that Farke is keen to take Skipp to Elland Road, having worked with the midfielder when he was on loan at Norwich City in 2020-21.

However, the journalist acknowledged that it would be quite difficult to get the midfielder out of the North London club this summer.

Hay said on The Square Ball Podcast: “There is the basis of a strong team there (at Leeds), but what I would question is if there’s enough of a squad.

“If you look back at Farke’s Norwich teams, the players he relied on were so good, Pukki, Buendia, and Oliver Skipp, who is back at Spurs – he’s someone Farke would love to get, but he seems to be heavily involved and he would cost a lot of money as well.”

Spurs Online Opinion

Tottenham will not entertain offers for Skipp this summer, in my opinion.

Even if Postecoglou believes the 22-year-old is not yet at the level required to be a regular starter, the kid is likely to remain as a squad player, especially with Hojbjerg on the verge of leaving.
