Report: Club want Nottingham Forest 25-year-old to replace Manchester United-bound star

Nottingham Forest could be about to offload Emmanuel Dennis with Manchester United about to assist with the deal. The Reds have been trying to get rid of the Nigerian all summer and they could now be about to get their wish.

United are set to complete the signing of Rasmus Hojlund and the Serie A outfit are in need of a replacement. They’ve identified Dennis and that would be a huge bonus to Forest.

Dennis simply hasn’t worked out for the Reds. He signed last summer from Watford, costing £20 million but ultimately things just haven’t worked out for the player.

The 25-year-old has only scored twice for Forest, with Dennis failing to convince Steve Cooper that he’s worthy of being a regular starter.

Hojlund is going to cost £72 million and United look to have got their man. Now, reports claim that Atalanta will quickly move for Forest striker Dennis to replace the 20-year-old.

Forest are going to be in short supply of strikers ahead of next season. Taiwo Awoniyi top-scored during 2022/23 but Sam Surridge has already gone and now Dennis is a wanted man too.

Dennis has proven his versatility to the Forest cause. He can operate on the wing or as a striker and perhaps Cooper’s system has stifled him somewhat.

Forest man Dennis could be about to replace Hojlund

The deal that United have struck is intriguing. It seems like an awful lot of money for a player who is yet to really burst onto the world stage.

Still, United usually know what they’re doing in the transfer market. They will feel that under Erik ten Hag, Hojlund can thrive and it will be intriguing to see how it pans out.

Dennis looks to be the man that Atalanta want to replace him and Forest will be delighted. It was looking for a while as though they might struggle to shift him but now they look to have found a suitor.

The sooner Forest can get rid of Dennis the better. Hopefully, this is a deal that doesn’t drag on and the versatile forward can go somewhere and play regular football.
