Newcastle United transfer rumours with Lewis Miley interest and Harrison Ashby exit hint

All of the latest Newcastle United transfer headlines including reports on academy graduate Lewis Miley and former West Ham prospect Harrison Ashby

Miley interest

Eddie Howe has already confirmed Lewis Miley will remain with Newcastle United for the upcoming campaign. The academy graduate made his Premier League debut in the final-day draw at Chelsea last term, and has been one of the stars of the Magpies’ pre-season so far.

The 17-year-old produced the matchwinning assist in the opening friendly win against Gateshead FC, and was hailed for his performance in the Premier League Summer Series draw to Chelsea. Miley could be in line for his first start at senior level at St James’ Park at the Sela Cup double-header this weekend.

Given his form in recent months, it is perhaps no surprise that the versatile midfielder has been the subject of loan interest from Championship and League One clubs according to the Telegraph. Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs namechecked Leicester City and Stoke City as two potential suitors, but Miley is set to take the next stage of his development with Newcastle.

Ashby hint

Harrison Ashby has made several appearances for Newcastle throughout pre-season, but is expected to leave on loan ahead of the new season. The former West Ham prospect is yet to make his senior competitive debut for the Magpies, and will struggle for minutes ahead of Kieran Trippier despite the demands of competing on four fronts.

Swansea City has been cited as the most likely destination for Ashby, with the 21-year-old’s absence from Newcastle’s latest training gallery noticeable. Rumours on social media have since suggested the full-back has been spotted in training with the Swans, despite the deal not being formally announced yet.
