Nottingham Forest don’t have long to discover their first cup opponents of the summer, with the side entering the Carabao Cup at the second round stage.

With first round games going on this weekend, plans for the second round of the competition are already being put in place. The priority for Forest this season will of course be the Premier League, but a cup run is always an exciting addition to the season.

One of the benefits of being a Premier League club is that Forest get a bye through the first round. But their name will be included in the hat for the draw that takes place this week.

With that in mind, here’s all the details you need on the second round draw.

When is the draw?

The draw takes place on Wednesday, August 9, and is due to start at roughly 10.15pm. The draw will follow the conclusion of Leicester City’s trip to Burton Albion which is being shown live on Sky Sports.

As it takes place after the game, the draw will be available to watch on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football. Those without a Sky Sports subscription will be able to stream the draw live on the Sky Sports Football Youtube channel .

Who will be included?

Alongside all of the winners of the first round ties that take place this week, the 12 Premier League teams who are not competing in Europe this season, including Forest, will also join the draw. Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Brighton, West Ham and Aston Villa will all enter the competition at the third-round stage.

When will the games take place?

The second round of the Carabao Cup will take place on the week commencing August 28. The exact date of Forest’s game will be confirmed after the broadcast selections are finalised and the two clubs are in agreement on the date. For Forest, the game will fall in between Premier League games against Manchester United (A) and Chelsea (A).
