Everton agree forms for another new transfer, compensation will be due – report

Everton agree trial forms with Chelsea prospect Malik Mothersille, permanent transfer on cards

Everton have agreed to trial forms with highly-rated Chelsea prospect Malik Mothersille in view of signing him on a permanent basis, according to The Athletic.

The football news outlet reported on 14 August that Mothersille has been training with Everton, and came off the bench in their Under-21s clash with Liverpool, after he failed to agree to a contract with Chelsea.

It is also shared that Everton are facing competition from other European clubs who have offers on the table for Mothersille, but there is cautious optimism that a deal with Chelsea can be formalised soon. Talks are ongoing over a compensation fee, with neither party keen on going to an arbitration panel.

A very highly-rated prospect

Mothersille was the top scorer for Chelsea’s Under-18s side in the 2021/22 season, and scored four goals against EFL opponents Leyton Orient and Peterborough in the Papa John’s Trophy last season, displaying a clear ability to play and perform at an EFL level.

This deal would be a real coup for Everton, as Chelsea were keen to tie the player down to a new contract after several months of negotiations. Having agreed to a trial deal, Mothersille will be allowed to train and play for Everton while they wait for the permanent deal to be finalised.

In last year’s PL2 (the top division of U21s academy football), the winger scored three goals and got three assists from 15 appearances, and showed an ability to play across the front line – on either wing or as a centre-forward.

Mothersille looks like he will become the most recent highly-rated prospect to leave Stamford Bridge, after striker Jude Soonsup-Bell, who has been tipped to have a bright future, left the club to join rivals Tottenham after growing frustrated at the lack of opportunities.

In other Everton news, the club are strongly looking at signing another striker.
