Sheffield United could turn their attention to Joel Piroe.
That’s according to Alan Nixon, who has reported that the newly-promoted club are considering a move for the striker if they fail to land Cameron Archer.
Reports have claimed a number of clubs have been targeting a deal for the Swansea City ace this summer, with the Blades now joining the likes of Everton, Leeds United and Leicester City.
Piroe joined the Swans for between £1-2 million in 2021 but has propelled himself to become one of the best forwards in the Championship, netting 41 goals in only 88 games since his arrival.
With only one year left on his deal in Wales, the ‘outstanding’ 24-year-old had been heavily linked with a move away and LeicestershireLive reported in July that he could be available for around £15 million.
While talk of a switch had gone quiet, Sheffield United could now reignite the battle if they move on from Archer. The Aston Villa youngster was made available this summer and Paul Heckingbottom’s side have reportedly already had a £10m bid rejected for his signature.

It had recently looked like Joel Piroe could remain in Swansea despite huge interest earlier in the transfer window.
However, if Sheffield United were to approach the striker then that could result in a number of clubs following suit.
Everton are yet to add a proven goalscorer to their ranks, while all three relegated clubs are still on the hunt for a new No.9.
The Merseyside outfit could hold an advantage if they were to pursue Piroe, with a number of interested parties currently sitting in the second tier of English football.
The Toffees should reconsider making a move for Piroe, who has proven himself to be a level above the Championship. However, they won’t want to participate in a bidding war for the Dutchman.
