Will Boyle wants another Wrexham AFC win against Swindon and first clean sheet.

PHIL PARKINSON described Wrexham as ” a work in progress” but feels his players are adjusting well to life at a higher level.

The Reds, promoted as National League champions last term, took one point from their opening two League Two matches before getting off the mark with a 4-2 victory over Walsall at The STóK Cae Ras on Tuesday.

It was an impressive performance and Parkinson, preparing for another home game against Swindon Town tomorrow, feels Wrexham can get better.

“When you come up a division it’s hard, it really is,” said the Reds’ boss.

“People say the National League is a hard division to get out of, that’s only because only one goes straight up.

“This is a harder division game-by-game and the players are better, but we rose to the challenge against Walsall and we will make sure the performance against Swindon goes up another notch.

“We are a work in progress still.”

Parkinson has made changes to his starting XI for each game so far this term, giving his players get much-needed game-time due to a lack of minutes during pre-season.

“We will recover and look at Swindon closely, get the lads ready and pick the team we feel is right for Saturday,” said Parkinson.

“We did that against Walsall.

“We thought long and hard abut the team selection and I feel the lads who had the shirts justified their selection.

“We will look at everybody physically and pick a team to go and put in another performance like that.

“I said when we came back from America that I felt we weren’t ready and we needed to utilise the games to get everybody right up to speed, and I think we are getting there.

“You could sense that against Walsall and it was a true Wrexham performance, capped by the magnificent support we got.

“It was another cracking atmosphere and we never take that for granted.

“A lot of people from their side were saying to me wow, what a place this is to play, and the lads thrived on it.”
