Report: ‘Unbelievable’ player expected to sign for Leeds United in next 24 hours

Leeds United are closing in on a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur talent Djed Spence ahead of transfer deadline day.

Djed Spence is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur for a loan move to Championship side Leeds United.

That is according to The Athletic, who report that Spence is nearing a move to Elland Road.

It’s stated that Spence isn’t at the point of undergoing a medical with Leeds but a deal is expected in the next 48 hours.

Leeds will be paying a loan fee of around £1million with Tottenham happy to let Spence move on.

The report adds that Leeds will not have a purchase clause as part of the deal, either as an option or an obligation.

Spurs seemingly do still have some hope for Spence moving forward despite him not being part of Ange Posteocoglou’s immediate plans.

Spence is stuck behind Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal in Tottenham’s right back pecking order.

It makes sense for Spence to go out on loan and play regularly, hopefully continuing his development at Elland Road.

Djed Spence an exceptional signing for Leeds United

Leeds suffered pain in their pursuit of a new right back earlier this month.

The Whites had a deal worth up to £12million agreed for Max Aarons before Bournemouth hijacked the move at the last minute.

Leeds have now turned to Spence and it’s hard not to be excited about this move for Daniel Farke and co.

Spence has already proven himself in the Championship with both Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.

Spence was absolutely vital for Forest as they won promotion to the Premier League in 2022, proving to be a major attacking force up the right flank.

Hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by Sol Bamba, Spence is a hugely exciting signing for Leeds even if only for a year – and if he can help the Whites win promotion, a long-term stay at Elland Road could be on the cards.
