GREAT SIGNING: West Ham have secure a key player worth £122m-according to report

Much to the surprise of many, including even some West Ham fans, the Hammers Hammers have made a blistering start to the new season, with the club currently sitting fourth in the Premier League table after their four matches.

David Moyes has guided his side to victories against Chelsea, Brighton and Luton Town following their opening day draw with Bournemouth.

This superb start has certainly been helped by a strong summer transfer window for the club, which involved the signatures of James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

As per Sky Sports (2 September), the Hammers spent a total of £122.6million to bring such players to East London. That figure places the club eighth in the list for Premier League clubs, with their London rivals Chelsea way out on top thanks to their £434.5million outlay.

Eighth spot in such a list is by no means the worst place to be, but it does put plenty of pressure on West Ham to deliver in all competitions over the coming months.

Unfortunately for Moyes and his men, the season is only going to get more difficult from here on in, with the club’s Europa League campaign set to get underway shortly.

Last season, be it a lack of squad depth or simply a lack of talent, the Hammers struggled to compete on all fronts for several months before finally getting things on track.

It was a season that ended in jubilation at the London Stadium as the club secured their Premier League safety and lifted the Europa Conference League trophy.

But for a long time it looked as though the Hammers would have to choose between one or the other, a scenario that fans do not want to see once more this time around.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have a new hero as stunning Premier League statistics have emerged after the recent win against Luton.
