BBC news: Unexpected good fortune for West Ham’s match against Liverpool

West Ham will travel to Anfield this Saturday, where they typically leave with their tails between their legs and return to east London, but they have received some good news ahead of their game against Liverpool.

Before returning to Premier League duties, David Moyes’ team must first negotiate their Europa League group stage opening against Backa Topola.

The Hammers and Reds have both had strong starts to the 2023–24 season, with the exception of a defeat to a Man City team that always finds a way to win.

Given Jurgen Klopp’s propensity for all-out attack and Moyes’ more pragmatic method, the matchup promises to be exciting and one of different styles.

Edson Alvarez has been cleared to play after serving a suspension for the Europa League match, so Moyes has a complete roster of players to pick from as West Ham travels to Merseyside with confidence.

He was cited as saying on the official West Ham website, “We’ve got everybody available, everybody fit and ready to play.”

The Europa League is suspended for Edson Alvarez. He’s great, fit, and healthy, but he’s still adjusting to the Premier League.

Given that the club still has money to spend in January thanks to the sale of Declan Rice, the Hammers’ current strong play in the English Premier League augurs well for the remainder of the season.
