According to a report, Everton and Liverpool are competing for the services of a striker worth £31 million.

Prior to the January transfer window, Everton is in contact with the agents for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Hugo Ekitike.

Hugo Ekitike is still wanted by Everton despite rumors of a summer deal to Goodison Park.

A number of Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing Ekitike, according to 90Min.

The French striker established himself as a major prospect with Reims and last summer signed a loan-to-buy deal worth €36 million (£31 million) with PSG.

Before the summer deadline, PSG demanded that

Ekitike be traded in exchange for Randal Kolo Muani.

Ekitike rejected a move to Eintracht Frankfurt and hasn’t even been named to a matchday team since, whereas Kolo Muani did sign with PSG.

Ekitike could now be frozen out by PSG and Premier League clubs are queueing up to sign him in January.

90Min now claim that Everton are one of the clubs in conversation with Ekitike’s representatives.

The Toffees want to kept informed about a potential January move – but so do other Premier League clubs.

Brentford, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also in contact, seemingly looking into signing Ekitike in January.

Everton were interested in signing Ekitike over the summer and ‘submitted an offer’ according to Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers.

Sean Dyche’s men ended up signing Beto from Udinese and a move for Ekitike would feel a touch surprising now.

Everton added Beto and Youssef Chermiti in attack whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still at the club.

Adding another centre forward like Ekitike may feel like overkill unless the plan is for Chermiti to go out on loan.

Liverpool wanted Ekitike last year

Ekitike really needs to leave PSG in order to get his career back win track.

The Frenchman was considered a huge talent in 2022 but now finds himself in danger of being frozen out at PSG.

90Min reported in February 2022 that Liverpool had joined the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in scouting Ekitike.

The Reds were eyeing up Ekitike for a potential move to Anfield, potentially viewing him as a star of the future.

Everton could hand Ekitike that move to Merseyside after all, with Ekitike surely aware that he needs to move on and play regularly if he wants to receive that lofty interest again down the line.
