NEWS FLASH: Aston Villa Set Star Buy-Back Clauses Using Similar Calculations, with Identified Amounts

According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa added buy-back provisions for several of the youth players they sold in the summer that were approximately double the transfer fees they had been paid.

Villa decided to cash in on some of the talented youngsters who emerged from their academy in the last transfer window.

It allowed them to balance their books and improve their financial fair play calculations as the club look to build on a solid summer.

Sheffield United signed Cameron Archer for a fee of £20m while Burnley forked out a fee of £15m for Aaron Ramsey.

Jaden Philogene was sold to Hull City for £5m, but each of these deals included buy-back clauses as well.

The buy-back provisions are approximately double the fees Aston Villa got for each of the three players because they did not want to completely cede control of their futures.

If they wanted to repurchase Archer from Sheffield United, they would have to pay £40 million, and if they wanted to repurchase Ramsey from Burnley, they would have to pay £30 million.

A fee of £10m would have to be forked out if they show an interest in getting back Philogene in the future.
