News now: Sean Dyche needs to maximize Everton’s $112,000 per week secret weapon this year, according to opinion

At Everton, Andre Gomes might still have a role to play.

Andre Gomes, a midfielder for Everton, occasionally appeared likely to depart the club during the most recent summer transfer window. He spent previous season on loan at the French team Lille.

A move to Turkey was mooted, but nothing came to fruition and Gomes remains on the books at Goodison Park. This is good news, as far as Everton manager Sean Dyche is concerned.

The Toffees’ boss believes Gomes can contribute this season. As quoted by Liverpool World, Dyche has said, “he’s aware I want him to get fit, I want him to be part of what we’re doing. I think that he’s a very good footballer, I think he’s shown that down the years.”

Make the most of Gomes for Everton.
Gomes is now out of the game due to an injury, but he should be able to resume playing soon. The 30-year-old has the potential to significantly alter the Everton midfield group this year.

Dyche has chosen to start a midfield combination of Idrissa Gueye, Amadou Onana, and Abdoulaye Doucoure in each of the club’s five Premier League games thus far this season. So far, this configuration has not led to fruitful outcomes.

Everton v Southampton - Premier League

Everton have lacked creativity and guile in the middle of the park. Gomes would add plenty of that. If he can get fully fit and back to his best form, the £112,212-a-week ace would add a fresh dimension to the Toffees’ build up play.

Few would have foreseen that Gomes might once again become a key figure for Everton this season. However, Dyche’s current approach is not working and the 29-cap former Portugal international could prove to be something of a secret weapon for the Merseyside outfit.

As they are still paying his wages, Everton should certainly seek to make the most of having Gomes at their disposal.
