WHAT OCCURED? Wrexham just tied Manchester City’s record for the most league wins in a calendar year, with 22. Red Dragons manager Phil Parkinson expressed his delight at his team’s accomplishment and noted that their goal now is to maintain their good form in upcoming games.
WHAT THEY SAID: Speaking to the BBC, Parkinson said, “We’re very proud of that because we’re up against some very good teams across the pyramid of football. To be up there and talked about with names like Man City is a great achievement for everybody at the club.
“Like Man City will be saying when they saw that stat come out and how well they’ve done, it’s about what’s ahead. We know that we’ve done well to be up there and talked about with those names, but it’s what’s ahead and how do we go again and achieve even more.”
“We’ve worked hard since the start of the season to look at areas we needed to improve in terms of personnel and side structure,” he added. So far, I’ve enjoyed the division, the new season, and am really eager about what is ahead. I believe we have a fantastic squad that is developing, with excellent competition across the pitch and some good performances.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Since losing their first League Two encounter against MK Dons, Wrexham have gone unbeaten in League Two, with four wins and three draws. They are presently fourth in the standings. Manchester City, on the other side, have won all five of their Premier League games.
