Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson discusses his impending return to the King Power Stadium in the latest Leicester City news.

As he prepares to return to Bristol City, former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson “cannot deny” that the club is a huge part of his life. Pearson was in charge of Leicester for two seasons, the first from June 2008 to June 2010, when the club won League One and then placed fifth in the Championship.

Following a brief stint with Hull City, he returned to Leicester in November 2011 and won the Championship as well as the Premier League’s ‘great escape’ before departing in the summer of 2015.

Pearson isn’t the only one returning to Leicester this weekend. Andy King and Matty James, both former Leicester City midfielders, have joined Bristol City, as has long-serving head physio Dave Rennie.

Pearson has acknowledged that Leicester means a lot to him, he insists he will try to “be detached” from that as his Robins looks to pick up a result on Filbert Way. Discussing their return during his pre-match press conference, Pearson said: “Leicester’s been a big part of my life.

“I can’t just sit here and talk about it not being an important part of my life. I have a huge connection.

“There’s four of us going back. I managed there over two spells. Dave Rennie was there for 25 years. Andy King was there for a long, long time. Most of his adult career. Matty James had been there a few years.

“All in all, there is a connection which is going to create some interest. But of course, you know what I’m like, it’s about trying to be detached from that in terms of the preparation, and then of course when the game starts.

“I can’t deny that it’s been a big part of my life and my family’s life, too. I’m looking forward to seeing people I’ve not seen for a while. But having said that, we still have a job to do and we still go there, collectively, with our intentions of being as good as we can be.

“If we play well, and catch them on a day where things aren’t quite right for them… I think they’ll be aware that we can be a very, very dangerous side.”
