Just Now: Legend disappointed over Tottenham missing out on dynamic player

Former Tottenham midfielder and talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara has voiced disappointment that the club did not sign James Ward-Prowse during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham were heavily associated with the former Southampton midfielder, but they instead purchased Leicester City’s James Maddison for £40 million, a deal that has proven incredibly effective so far.

Maddison has made an early impression at Tottenham, scoring four goals in five games and receiving Premier League Player of the Month for August.

Ward-Prowse, on the other hand, has been brilliant, scoring two goals and assisting five times in five appearances in all competitions.

O’Hara told talkSPORT that he wished Tottenham had signed him.

Ward-Prowse was commended by O’Hara, who said he is more than simply a set-piece specialist and has a well-rounded game.

He indicated his desire for Tottenham to sign the English midfielder.

He stated:

“I truly believe he is wonderful. Tottenham should have signed him.”

“As a player, he’s so much more than that; he’s labeled as a set-piece specialist, but genuinely, he’s got so much more to his game than people think.”

While Ward-Prowse’s move to Tottenham did not happen this summer, there were suggestions that Spurs were still interested in him after signing Maddison.\

According to certain sources, manager Ange Postecoglou considered Ward-Prowse as a potential number 8, playing in an offensive role for the squad.

However, he may not have had consistent playing time with us while establishing himself as one of West Ham’s main players.

Meanwhile, Yves Bissouma, along with Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr, has been a star for us.
