Heung-min According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Son is content to stay at Tottenham as they get ready to extend him a sizable new contract.
The 31-year-old is ecstatic about the effects of his new boss, Ange Postecoglou, and is eager to participate in the initiative he is putting into action.
On Friday, September 22, Football Insider reported that Tottenham is prepared to start contract negotiations with Son.
They are anticipated to start with his one-year contract renewal, which would extend his present agreement until June 2026.
However, a reliable source informed Football Insider that Spurs might yet start discussions with Son regarding a brand-new long-term contract.
Any such agreement would likely include a pay rise to reflect his new status as club captain and would be “huge”, it is said.
This is true despite Tottenham’s rigid wage structure, in which Son already earns more than any other senior player.
According to reports, the South Korean international currently makes £190,000 a week in North London.
As a result of Harry Kane leaving for Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich, Son is now viewed as the key player at Tottenham.
