NEWS FLASH: Everton have begun contract negotiations with the ‘terrific’ 21-year-old youngster

Everton have allegedly begun contract negotiations with teenager Jarrad Branthwaite.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claims the Toffees are eager to sign him on new terms.

Branthwaite has been a standout performance in the early stages of the season, drawing interest from a number of big clubs.

The 21-year-old spent the previous season on loan at PSV, where he made 27 appearances in the Eredivisie.

Everton appear to have benefited from his time away from the club, as the teenager has returned to cement his spot in Sean Dyche’s squad.

And it appears that Everton are attempting to deter interest in the Englishman by offering him a new contract.

Everton have begun contract talks with Branthwaite.

According to The Athletic, Branthwaite’s contract is set to expire in 2025, but Everton has the option to extend it for another year.

Nonetheless, the Toffees are still anxious to tie him down on new terms and have begun talks about a new contract.

Everton believe his potential is “vast,” although he is still maturing at this stage of his career.

Everton would be wise to sign Branthwaite to a new contract, since he is already garnering admiring looks from elite clubs.

Indeed, The Athletic revealed earlier this month that Champions League clubs are keeping a close eye on the defender.

Everton appear to have found a true gem in Branthwaite, who is already proving to be a ‘terrific’ player for Dyche at the age of 21.

Branthwaite was benched for the first two games of the season, but he has started and played the entire 90-minute game since then.
