Depending on their victory percentages, the worst managers in Ipswich Town history

Ipswich Town’s current manager has enjoyed a terrific start to his tenure with the club.

Under Kieran McKenna, Town were promoted back to the Championship and have topped the second tier this season.

However, situations were not always so favorable, and these managers are a reflection of those less fortunate times. One of the managers on this list had a great deal of success with the club. He worked in the dugout at Portman Road for three seasons. That would not generally imply that a manager has one of the club’s worst winning percentage histories, but here we are.

In his first summer transfer window, Jewell brought in numerous well-known stars, some for six-figure prices. The two big-money acquisitions were Micheal Chopra and Jay Emmanual-Thomas, but the team also managed to sign former England international Lee Bowyer.

They went on to finish 15th in the 2011-12 season, but it was the next season that things really fell apart for the boss. They won just one of their first 12 league games and were eliminated in the second round of the League Cup.

Lyall took over the club in May 1990 and stayed until December 1994. His win percentages plummeted in the two years following their elevation.

Ipswich lost 31 games during Lyall’s two seasons in the Premier League. Even though he wasn’t there for the entire 94-95 season, the club dropped 29 games that year.
