Jamie Carragher has stated that he is surprised by how quickly Ange Postecoglou has been able to have Tottenham Hotspur performing.
Carragher highlighted on ‘An Echo of Glory’ how swiftly Ange has adapted his playing squad.
The analyst also believed there was reason to be optimistic about the future under the manager.
“It’s been such a contrast from where Tottenham were,” Carragher added.
“I can’t believe how well Tottenham are doing because there has been such a shift in terms of football.”
“And, yes, I know he’s brought in players, but there are still a lot of players who are used to a certain style of football under Conte and previous managers.”
“So for him to come in and do what he has done – not just results, but performances – that is impressive.”
“But you think it can only get better when he brings more players in and the players working with him every day.”
Carragher went on to discuss how Postecoglou is making the most of Tottenham’s brief absence from Europe.
And it’s difficult to dispute with any of the Liverpool man’s remarks.
Carragher believes Postecoglou is doing a fantastic job at Tottenham.
Of course, the next big test for Spurs will be against Carragher’s old club.
And, if anything, Jurgen Klopp’s team will be a better barometer of where Postecoglou’s team is right now.
The North London derby was filled with emotion, mistakes, and passion, but Liverpool will be a different test.
Spurs had a full week to prepare after being defeated by Fulham in the last round of the EFL Cup.
And Tottenham’s Postecoglou will most certainly be keeping a close eye on Carragher’s former club as they face Leicester City tonight.
Spurs have made a strong start under their new boss, but only so far.
Fans will be enthusiastic and optimistic, but they will be aware of the long road ahead.
