Spurs had a fantastic summer, but they didn’t halt their transfer activity once the window closed. The North Londoners kept an eye out for possibilities, and Vuskovic, 16, became a prominent target.

Many clubs in Europe were interested in the Croatian, but it was Spurs who beat everyone else to his signature this week.
Vuskovic is still only 16, but there are already indications that he will develop into a top-tier defender. He has the potential to reach the pinnacle of the game, and Zoran Vulic, who is claimed to have worked individually with the teenager in the past, believes he’s in the same league as Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol.
“What he has inside him is an exceptional feeling for the ball,” the Hajduk Split veteran told Sportske Novosti. Many believe he and his brother (Hamburg’s Mario Vuskovic) are slow, but I’m not sure who the fastest stopper in the world is.
“Stout stoppers have little chance against today’s fast, light strikers.” The Vukovi family, of which there are very few, plays football with their heads.
“I don’t want to burden Luka with big announcements, but he belongs in the same category as players like Gvardiol and (Josip) Sutalo.” Given his physical and cerebral qualities, that is how I envisage his future.”
Tottenham were widely linked with a deal to capture Josko Gvardiol while he was still at RB Leipzig on multiple occasions.
The 21-year-old is a world-class defender. He was brilliant for Germany and Croatia, and the fact that Pep Guardiola broke the bank to sign him demonstrates exactly how good he is.
Tottenham never had a chance to sign Gvardiol, instead they went and brought in a youngster who could one day be as brilliant as the Manchester City defender.
It will be intriguing to observe how Vuskovic develops at Spurs over the next few years.
