Sad news as Tranmere Rovers receive a very important figure confirmed deceased

Tranmere Rovers deputy director Ben Harrison died today at the age of 60, according to the club.

According to a statement released by Rovers on Wednesday afternoon, Harrison, who had been the chairman of the Tranmere Rovers Supporters’ Trust for 15 years, died tragically.

Harrison was a well-known Tranmere resident who was involved in a number of initiatives, including the club’s vision for the futuristic “Tranmere Garden” project, which is set to be completed later this year, and the distribution of food parcels to locals during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

“In the 9 years since we were back at the Club, Ben became a critical part of the senior management team, a valued advisor, but above all a personal friend to us both,” Tranmere chairman Mark Palios and vice chairman Nicola Palios said in response to the significant loss of a prominent club figure. He was instrumental in the Club establishing a good working relationship with the Supporters’ Trust, which is unusual in football. As a result, we’ve worked together on a number of projects, including distributing food parcels to the local community during Covid and beyond, as well as the SWA2# community tickets program (now known as Nate’s Tickets).

The new fan zone, which was his concept and which many people thought he would never be able to fulfill, is a fantastic example of how big-dreaming and diligent he was in realizing those objectives. Although he was continually tracking its progress until his death, it is tragic that he never got to see it open. That structure will stand as an enduring testimony to his vision and perseverance.

“Even as Ben grew closer to us, he never shied away from challenging us when he had a different point of view.” We cherished his contribution because we knew he was looking out for the best interests of this fantastic Club and its supporters.

Throughout his life, he was full of energy and kindness. He was a fearless advocate for the underprivileged as well as a clever and astute businessman—a uncommon combination.

“One of the things we always ask ourselves when we meet new people is, ‘Would you have them in the trenches with you?'” The resounding “yes” was in regard to Ben. He boldly stood up for all he believed in, faced great challenges, and charged headlong into them. Ben’s family said, “He died as he lived, fearlessly and without compromise.”

Our chairman and friend, Ben Harrison, died, and the Tranmere Rovers Trust learned of his death with deep regret and a heavy heart, according to a separate statement.

“Ben was a selfless individual who always put others ahead of himself while working tirelessly on Trust and club projects.” He was the driving force behind many activities that benefited the club and the community.

His steadfast passion to the football squad served as an inspiration to all of us. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ben’s family. We will all miss Ben terribly.
