Newcastle United are allegedly close to signing Bruno Guimaraes to a new contract.
This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who took to X last weekend with a follow-up update on his exclusive Magpies update.
The transfer insider exclaimed “here we go” on Newcastle securing a new contract with Guimaraes a week ago.
Romano stated that the new agreement will be active until the summer of 2028 and would include a £100 million release clause.
In his most recent update, the Italian confirmed this, adding that “it’s just a matter of days” before all the legalities are completed.
Guimaraes was one of the first players to arrive at Newcastle after the club’s long-awaited purchase.
He was something of a trailblazer, having been linked with clubs that were in or near European or title contention at the time.
Meanwhile, Newcastle was fighting to avoid relegation. Things were indeed dire at the time.
Guimaraes, on the other hand, assisted the Magpies in surviving, and they’ve been on a stratospheric trajectory since.
Newcastle are now in the Champions League and will be hoping to capture some silverware this season.
They came close to winning the Carabao Cup last season. They defeated Manchester City in the third round this time.
Newcastle is doing well, and Guimaraes has been a key factor in their success thus far.
