Report: Coventry City have received a serious injury update for their upcoming tour this evening

Mark Robins is heartened by the news that “one or two” of his injured Coventry City players may not be out as long as previously thought. Ben Sheaf, Kasey Palmer (both adductor strains), and Milan van Ewijk (quad tear) will all be out for six to eight weeks, according to the Sky Blues management.

When asked if any of his injured players are getting closer to returning in today’s pre-match news conference ahead of Saturday’s trip to Queens Park Rangers, he said: “Yes, there are a few more positive signs, so I’m sort of hopeful on that.” Tomorrow is too soon for them, but I am confident that we may be able to start seeing one or two return by next week.

When asked who was closest, he said, “I’ll let you know next week.” I’m optimistic, but they must go through the process again. I’m depending on medical staff communications, and the information I’m getting from the players is more promising. So we’ll see what happens.

“They must be correct, check boxes, and return to a position where they have minimized the chances of re-injury and other such things.” But I’m now more optimistic that it won’t take as long as we thought. But, once again, those who know more than I do are guiding me.

Despite a scan finding a “significant” tear in Van Ewijk’s quadricep muscle in his thigh, the player was not in agony, implying that he could be one of the players on his way back.

Callum O’Hare has been back in full contact training for a couple of weeks, but it’s far too early for the attacking midfielder to be involved, with the attacking midfielder likely to be given a run out with the Under-21s before hitting the first team bench after missing nine months with a ruptured ACL.
