Ange Postecoglou admits Tottenham’s £50 million player will not play against Liverpool.
Tottenham will face Liverpool in an entertaining match this weekend.
There will be plenty of offensive skill on display in north London on Saturday, but one of Tottenham’s most promising forward prospects will be missing.
Brennan Johnson will not play against Liverpool this weekend, according to a video shared on Tottenham’s social media by Ange Postecoglou.
Johnson will not face Liverpool.
Postecoglou provided a discouraging update on the Welshman.
“Brennan will miss out this week, it’s nothing too serious but enough to keep him out this week,” Postecoglou stated.
Shame
Johnson’s absence from this game is a huge disappointment.
With all due respect, the winger could’ve had a field day down the left flank against Joe Gomez or Trent Alexander-Arnold, who haven’t been in the best defensive form of late.
It’s not unexpected, however, that Johnson will be absent. After all, Alasdair Gold mentioned on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast that the £50 million man had a hamstring scan earlier this week, so it appears that is the injury that is keeping him out.
“The same goes with Brennan Johnson. In the middle of this week, he underwent a precautionary scan to see how things were going. According to what I understand, it was strictly preventive. “Hopefully it was just a tight hamstring,” Gold said. “Whether they take the risk and start him or put him on the bench, I would love to see him in full flight going at that Liverpool defense, especially at home.”
Of course, hamstring injuries can be problematic and difficult to recover from, especially if you’re a player who relies on speed, but as Postecoglou says, this scenario doesn’t appear to be too bad, and he should be back for next week’s game against Luton Town.
Let’s hope Johnson is able to return stronger than ever, as he was just getting into his stride for Tottenham prior to his injury.
