VAR officials apologize to the wolves.

Wolves’ Premier League VAR officials pay the penalty for their error.

August 17 – The officials who failed to give Wolverhampton Wanderers a late penalty against Manchester United in the Premier League’s first round have been dropped for the next round of games.

Wolves manager Gary O’Neill says he received an apology from elite referees manager Jon Moss after his club was denied a stoppage-time penalty on Monday after Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana collided with substitute Sasa Kalajdzic.

The game’s referee, Simon Hooper, did not give the penalty kick, and the video assistant referee determined there was no foul. The two officials were both absent from the Premier League’s list of officials for the second round of matches this weekend.

O’Neil, whose team lost 1-0, said Moss told him he “couldn’t believe” the foul went unnoticed by the on-field official or the VAR.

“Jon Moss said it was a blatant penalty and should have been given,” Neil stated. “He stated that it was obvious and clear.
