Carlton’s key man has finally decided to leave.

AFL trade news: Blues forward discussing new deal, wingman expected to leave

There are two revisions to Carlton player movement.

There have been many new updates on Carlton’s player movement front, with a forward apparently in the midst of contract talks, and a forgotten wingman said to be on his way out of Princes Park.

The Blues’ list management issues are firmly in the back of their minds right now, as the club prepares to embark on its first finals campaign since 2013, beginning on Friday night at the MCG with a blockbuster elimination final against the Swans.

Carlton’s 2024 list construction, on the other hand, will become a primary focus soon enough, with many relevant updates expected on Thursday morning.

According to journalist Cal Twomey via SEN, father-son goalkicker Jack Silvagni is in ongoing talks with Carlton’s leadership over a contract extension, with a multi-year agreement known to be central to present conversations.

“Jack Silvagni has been offered a contract extension at Carlton.” “Those negotiations are now in full swing; he’s an unrestricted free agent, but the Blues have a multi-year deal on the table,” Twomey said Thursday morning.

After it appeared like Silvagni would continue on Royal Parade beyond this season due to his unsigned status, the only obvious question now surrounds around how many more years the forward will be associated with the Blues.

According to a News Corp story, winger Lochie O’Brien will apparently look for more lucrative senior opportunities away from Princes Park next season.

O’Brien played 19 games last season in a career revival, but this season the winger hasn’t been as popular with Michael Voss and his selection committee, playing just six games at AFL level as Carlton surged to September qualifying.

While the 23-year-old is under contract through next season, the running Blue is expected to leave the club that chose him with the No. 10 overall pick in 2017.

Off-contract midfielder Paddy Dow is another Blue whose Carlton future is uncertain as the off-season approaches.
