Crystal Palace, Fulham rival Tottenham in pursuit of a prolific star

Crystal Palace and Fulham will compete with Tottenham in the pursuit of al-Ittihad winger Jo in the January window. According to 90min, Tottenham have Fulham and Crystal Palace after the 24-year-old Portuguese winger Jota. The former Celtic star faces an uncertain future at Saudi side Al-Ittihad as he could be reunited with former boss Ange Postecoglou at Spurs.

The summer window saw the presence of the Saudi Arabian Pro League and their efforts to find top talent from Europe. Some of those clubs have snapped up the continent’s top talent, including former Celtic star Jota when Al-Ittihad paid £25m for the prolific winger. While he looked key for compatriot Nuno Espirito Santos, problems behind the scenes saw Al-Ittihad take a dramatic turn. Jota was left out of the club’s Saudi Pro League squad, prompting speculation about his future.

In the current situation, Jota is already negotiating with Al-Ittihad to find a solution. Some sources claim that he wants to cancel his contract and pay a huge salary, while others claim that Saudi Arabia could sell the striker to a European club.

These problems began to emerge before the European window closed and Tottenham were interested in signing him. However, the player stayed with Al-Ittihad, hoping to solve his problems and start his career in the Saudi Pro League.

Now that things have been cleared up, Jota is likely to leave the club and Tottenham are considering a move. A reunion with Ange Postecoglou appears likely, with the Australian manager instrumental in securing the Celtic deal.

Tottenham, however, have Fulham and Crystal Palace chasing the 24-year-old Portuguese winger. Both London sides are looking to add to their attacking squad and could be looking at a deal for Jota. Tottenham dominate this chase thanks to the presence of Postecoglou. As the player wants to play regularly after January, he can evaluate his options and decide at which club he will get enough game time.

Meanwhile, Tottenham already signed a similar player in Brennan Johnson on deadline day, but Postecoglou would not hesitate to include Jota. The 24-year-old Portuguese winger was instrumental in the Australian’s success at Celtic.

Jota has scored 28 goals and provided 26 assists in 83 games, which shows why Postecoglou has no hesitation in bringing him to Tottenham. He offers more than the current wing options, as the 24-year-old Portuguese winger could make Spurs even stronger in the final third.
