Sad news as Updates provided around Leeds key players

We can confirm that Patrick Bamford has ruptured his plantar fascia, which is an injury to the sole of the foot, following talks with experts earlier this week. On the bright side, Patrick will not require surgery.

While every athlete’s recovery time is different, it is estimated that Patrick will be out for at least six weeks.

“As all of the stats show, Patrick has put his body on the line for Leeds United for a number of seasons, he has played with a plantar fascia injury for the last 12 months and despite treatment and a prolonged period of rehabilitation, the injury has progressed from a partial tear to a full tear,” Leeds United Head of Medicine and Performance Rob Price said.

“As all sports medics are aware, injuries to the plantar fascia are notoriously difficult to manage, but everyone involved is confident that he will recover fully from this injury in due time.”

“Patrick has been extremely unlucky this year, with his game time limited by a variety of injuries, including an ankle injury suffered at Newcastle and hamstring and quad injuries sustained once back in training and matchday squads.”

“What he needs is a period of rest and rehabilitation to allow his body to fully recover.”

On a more positive note, Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper, and Diego Llorente all trained this week and are expected to play against Southampton next week.

Raphinha has also returned to training following a brief sickness.

Mateusz Klich has returned to the squad after completing the concussion return to training protocols.

Illan Meslier has been sidelined this week due to serious bruising to his upper thigh and lower torso, but the French goalkeeper is expected to be fine for the Saints’ visit.
