Daniel Farke gives two potential reason why 25-year-old Leeds player can do much better in training

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke believes on-loan Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon can improve in training.

Farke was speaking to the press after his team defeated Queens Park Rangers 1-0 last night, according to Leeds Live.

Crysencio Summerville was the hero for Daniel Farke’s team yesterday, scoring the game’s only goal.

Yesterday was the epitome of grinding out a win even when a team isn’t performing at its best.

Leeds were clearly the superior team, but Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter were unable to maintain their scoring spree.

It meant that preserving a clean sheet was critical, and Illan Meslier will be relieved not to have conceded again.

Despite reservations about Joe Rodon’s training efforts, Daniel Farke chose him to play opposite Pascal Struijk in defense.

Since signing on loan from Tottenham, the Welsh international has made seven league appearances.

Even though he was sent off against Hull City last month, he’s already kept four clean sheets in his previous four outings.

Farke questioned Rodon’s training effort.

After the game, Farke said of the 25-year-old: “I think I was pleased with him overall because he was involved in many good results and many clean sheets.”

“Not every game before was perfect in every detail, I think [the] yellow and red card was unnecessary, and I also spoke with him because he can improve more on the training pitch.”

“We discussed it, and he delivered in the last few days.”

“It was time to give him another chance, and yes, he played with a really good performance.” “It’s always the same, if you’re on it in training and spot on and train properly and concentrate with good body language there, then you always have good chances to deliver good performances in the game.”

“That’s what he did today and I am pretty pleased with him.”

Rodon was never given much of a chance in pre-season training at Tottenham before joining Leeds, but Farke will be relieved that the Premier League club was willing to let him go.

He’s already played in the Championship with Swansea, and he spent last season in the Europa League with Stade Rennais.

Rodon has brought a level of competition to the Leeds squad, which will help the rest of the team.

Since his tenure with the Swans, he has never started more than 20 league games in a season.

Farke is keen for him to work as hard as possible on the training ground to ensure he has the fitness levels to start a demanding Championship season.
