Celtic were defeated in the Champions League for the second time in a row, thanks to a 96th-minute winner from Lazio’s Pedro.
Despite falling behind early in the first half to Kyogo’s opening, Maurizio Sarri’s Italian side won 2-1.
Matias Vecino equalized just before halftime, and substitute Pedro nodded in the 96th minute, sickening Celtic fans who had just seen a Luis Palma effort ruled out for offside by the tiniest of margins.
Here’s how the NBA stars rated on a night that promised a lot but didn’t deliver.
Joe Hart: Maybe could have done better to keep out Vecino’s headed leveller at his near post. Didn’t look comfortable with the ball at his feet. No chance with the second. 6
Alistair Johnston: Crunched into a few early tackles and really made his presence felt. A solid if unspectacular display from the full-back. Seemed to get in Hart’s way at first goal. 6
Nat Phillips: Comfortable enough with the ball at his feet and defended well in the main. However, was out-jumped at the corner which led to Lazio’s equaliser. Subbed after an hour. 6
Liam Scales: A decent night for the Irishman on his home Champions League bow. Kept Immobile in check. Another who could arguably have done a bit better at Lazio’s scrappy first goal.6
Greg Taylor: The Italian’s targeted the left back. Had his work cut out trying to keep tabs on flying machine winger Anderson. But, the little man stuck admirably to his task.6
Callum McGregor: Played a little bit deeper than usual, patrolling the area in front of his back four. Unable to exert his usual dominance in attack but the skipper was immense defensively. 7
Matt O’Riley: Sublime first time ball into the path of Kyogo for the opening goal. Incredible vision and awareness. Worth the admission money alone. Good effort saved at end of the first half. 7
Reo Hatate: Too many misplaced passes as the game wore on. Almost scored from a well-rehearsed set piece move after the break. Subbed midway through the second half. 6
Yang Hyun-Jun: More ying than yang! No shortage of endeavour from the South Korean, but he really toiled to make any impact on the left wing. Withdrawn 15 minutes into the second half. 5
Daizen Maeda: Dragged a decent chance wide after being played in by Yang. The Japanese workhorse got through an incredible amount of work on the right flank going forward and tracking back. 7
Kyogo Furuhashi: Opened his Champions League account with a goal of the highest quality. Movement and finish for the early opener was top drawer. Never stopped running all night. 7
SUBS
Cameron Carter-Vickers: Returned from injury on the hour mark. Badly caught out at Lazio’s injury time winner. 2
Luis Palma: Replaced the ineffective Yang and looked sharp. Had a dramatic late goal ruled out for offside. Booked. 5
Paulo Bernardo: Went close with a volley seconds after coming off the bench. 4
Hyeongyu Oh: Replaced Kyogo for the last five minutes. 2
