Legend advise Everton not to miss ‘special’ star because of Sean Dyche this summer

Ellis Simms will become a “special” player, according to Paul Brown, after Everton sold him in the summer, with the Toffees poised to miss out on his skill due to Sean Dyche.

According to the former Daily Star journalist, Dyche lacked the patience to enable the striker to flourish under his tutelage, which means Everton will miss out on Simms, who has all the tools to succeed away from Goodison Park.

If his claim is accurate, Coventry’s £8 million fee [The Herald, 8 July] to win his contract will appear to be a steal for the purchasers and a squandered opportunity for the Merseyside club.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT on October 5th, “I do think Ellis Simms is going to be a special player one day.” I believe he has the ability to be much, much better than he is because he has all of the tools he needs to improve significantly.

“It’s a shame, in a way, that Everton couldn’t be patient with him.” But I doubt he’d have gotten many chances this season. Sean Dyche does not appear to be patient enough with him, in my opinion.

“I believe they needed to upgrade the position, and they most likely did the right thing.” It’s really a shame because I believe Ellis Simms may still be a fantastic player in two, three, or four years.”

We cannot afford to wait.

Simply said, Everton are not in a stable enough position to wait for a player to develop in the hopes that they may one day become better than anyone anticipated. It’s the brutal truth of football and the club’s current situation, but the focus is short-term success.

Simms was also given an opportunity at Goodison Park. It’s not like he sat in the reserves playing kids football and was continuously passed over by people at the top. Under Dyche, he appeared in 11 Premier League games and scored one goal.

There’s no reason Simms can’t continue to improve; he’s a good striker at Championship level with age on his side, and the club will not be held responsible if he does.
