Town defender Reece Burke believes his team must rapidly learn from their heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Burnley on Tuesday night ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
After falling behind 1-0 to Lyle Foster’s breakaway goal on the stroke of halftime, the Hatters spent the entire second half camped in their opponents’ half, missing a slew of chances until Elijah Adebayo swiveled in the box to find the bottom corner with his first of the season.
However, as Kenilworth Road and manager Rob Edwards celebrated, they were left stunned and shell-shocked when the ball was back in the Luton net 65 seconds later, Jacob Bruun Larsen stepping off the right wing to curl a brilliant effort into the top corner.
Burke, who started on the bench but came on after 21 minutes due to an injury to Amari’i Bell, accepted responsibility for the winner, saying, “We’re disappointed, I think the first goal was a little bit sloppy from us.”
“We didn’t get organized fast enough, and it was a little too easy for them.”

“We came out flying after halftime and tried to get back in the game.”
“The lads did really well, and we got an equalizer, but conceding like that was disappointing.”
“It was difficult to take, but we discussed it at halftime, and it was a lack of communication and getting organized faster.”
“To be fair, I probably should have gotten a little closer, but he had the ability to put it in the top corner.”
“It’s just maybe switching on as soon as we managed to get one back, we need to learn from it and obviously move forward for the next game.”
Spurs visit Kenilworth Road tomorrow, with a win placing the unbeaten free-scoring visitors top of the league for the time being, as Burke added: “We are disappointed, but as a team we do bounce back.”
“We need to make the Kenny a difficult place to come, so we’re looking forward to it.”
