Sid Adebiyi, a loose forward, is anticipated to be out for at least three months after rupturing his Achilles.

After taking a severe injury earlier this year, the Nigerian international has been working closely with the Broncos’ physio team to develop a realistic recovery plan.

Olsi Krasniqi, who has been ruled out with a head injury, will join Adebiyi on the sidelines this weekend ahead of our Betfred Championship visit to Sheffield Eagles.

Rhys Curran, a French international, returns to the squad. The experienced second-rower has recovered from a facial fracture and has been named to Danny Ward’s 21-man squad for Saturday’s encounter.

Ward is especially happy with the progress made this week by James Meadows (concussion), Jarrod Sammut (infection), Ed Chamberlain (shoulder dislocation), Cory Aston and Chris Hankinson (both hamstring).

The Broncos’ Head Coach, on the other hand, was empathetic to Adebiyi’s position and promised to do all possible to ensure a swift but safe return to training.

Ward stated, “It’s terrible.” Any professional athlete will tell you that being injured is the most difficult aspect of their job. Unfortunately, it is an unavoidable byproduct of what we do.

“It breaks my heart for Sid, especially after his setback last year.” Every day, he works on his rehab at the training facility. He’s an important member of the team, and we need to do everything we can to keep his spirits up. It’ll be a long journey, but we’ll get there.

“However, I am delighted to have Rhys (Curran) back in the squad.” We’re delighted with his progress and will gradually reintroduce him.”
