Reo Hatate apologises to Celtic captain Callum McGregor after red card as star confesses 'I must learn' - Daily Record

On Saturday, Reo Hatate was one of Celtic’s most important players. The Japan international was instrumental in the Hoops’ 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock, scoring one and assisting on another.

After the game, his manager, Brendan Rodgers, claimed that he had a one-on-one meeting with him following his poor performance in midweek. “I took him through the clips of his game, nothing with the ball, everything without the ball,” he remarked (Clyde 1). I said if you don’t have that level of intensity and pressure, then, as I always say, if you press the game properly, you’ll pass it well.”

We know that the Irishman is always eager to develop personal relationships with his players and assist them in their development. This was the situation here, as Rodgers said that the 25-year-old absorbed everything. He went on to say: “He took that [advice] on board, he was very open and like I said he produced a fantastic performance today so that’s the level, now it’s consistency because you can’t switch the level on and off.”

Hatate’s life under Rodgers wasn’t going so well until this afternoon. His performances were not what we were used to seeing from him, but supporters will be hopeful he can now push on and acquire consistency, as his manager claims.
