Detroit Lions fans, we have bad news

The injury to Emmanuel Moseley ‘didn’t look good.’

Dan Campbell shared his thoughts on the Lions’ fourth triumph.

Emmanuel Moseley of the Detroit Lions departed the game in the first quarter with a knee injury and did not return.

Moseley was making his comeback to action after recuperating from a damaged ACL suffered previous season. Unfortunately for him, his day was cut short early in the first quarter when he collapsing while covering a route.

“We’ll know more tomorrow,” Dan Campbell told journalists. “On tape, the replay, it didn’t look good.” But we won’t know anything until the MRI results come in tomorrow afternoon.”

The Lions kept Jerry Jacobs at cornerback in Moseley’s absence. He immediately answered with another interception, his third of the season.

Gibbs was a late addition to the injury list, first appearing on Friday with a hamstring ailment. On Saturday, he was demoted from questionable to doubtful, and he ended up missing the game.

“Didn’t feel like it was awful, but it was just enough to where we felt like we needed to sit him today,” Campbell said.

In Gibbs’ absence, the Lions relied on David Montgomery, who responded with his second straight 100-yard game. Craig Reynolds, who ended with 52 yards on seven carries, also scored his first career touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Because of the injury, Campbell said that having depth at the position made it easier to sit Gibbs. With Montgomery and Reynolds shouldering the workload, the Lions were able to relax and give the injured youngster more time to recover.

“We’re in a position to, if you don’t feel good about a guy going, I’d rather have the healthy player,” said the third-year coach. “For us tonight, Craig was the healthy player once again. Craig did an excellent job for us. It helps, it helps, and knowing that you don’t have the entire roster at your disposal, that you’re trying to heal some of these people up, and you’re still able to win is huge.”

Also worth noting is that left guard Jonah Jackson exited Ford Field with a walking boot.

It’s unknown when the veteran offensive tackle hurt his foot.

“I’m always on the lookout.”

The Lions used a long week to prepare for the Panthers after a huge win against the Green Bay Packers in Week 4. Despite concerns that they could start slowly following the long vacation, they dominated wire-to-wire in a winning effort.

With a 4-1 record, Detroit has established itself as a viable postseason contender. Nonetheless, Campbell urges his players to continue aggressively pursuing their lofty targets set prior to the season.

“I think these guys are hungry,” Campbell said. “I just think they smell the wins and enjoy winning as much as anyone else.” They realize, however, what it takes to win right now and what we’re doing to win these games. From that perspective, I believe they want more, and we want more. When you have that, you’re constantly on the lookout.”

The possibility of a letdown existed while facing a winless squad on Sunday.

Rather than do that, the Lions firmly took Sunday’s game with a dominant effort on both sides of the ball. To their third-year coach, the Lions made a firm announcement about their ability to take control of the game regardless of the opponent.

Still, their mindset remains on the future. As strong as both units looked, Campbell pointed out the small details that can make or break a team late in the season are still plaguing the team at times.
