Report: Chris Jack rules out John Eustace as Rangers manager today, as club executives meet in London

According to Chris Jack, John Eustace will not be named as the new Rangers manager on Monday (9 October).

The disclosure was made by the Herald journalist in a tweet on Sunday (8 October) after Wayne Rooney was connected with replacing the 43-year-old as Birmingham City manager, perhaps causing a domino effect affecting the Light Blues.

On Sunday, Jack revealed on the Rangers Review website that Gers chiefs James Bisgrove and John Bennett are scheduled to hold final interviews with possible candidates in London as they seek to replace Michael Beale.

If the Rangers’ hierarchy decided to choose Eustace as the new manager, it would almost certainly be a divisive decision.

That is because he stated in September that he was “not interested” in taking over at Ibrox, and the appointment appears to be identical to Beale’s.

Eustace, like the former Gers boss, has enjoyed a fantastic start to the season with Birmingham, who now lie sixth in the English Championship table.

However, the club has already been down that route, and it appears that appointing another manager with little experience could be a mistake.

So far, it’s unclear who the leading contenders are for final interviews, but an appointment should be made within the next several days.
