The Florida State Seminoles’ running offense resembled what had been projected in the preseason much more in their 39-17 victory over Virginia Tech.

During the bye week, the Noles looked to have concentrated on enhancing their run game. Trey Benson immediately surpassed their previous season best of 79 yards with 200 yards on 11 attempts.

His 18.2 yards per carry were the highest ever for a Florida State running back, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Brian Pellerin, Jon Marchant, and Ben Meyerson of the Seminole Wrap team explore some of the modifications taken to get the offense moving this week.

The defense’s inability to move off the field on third down was the second major issue, but it appeared that they had made the necessary improvements over the bye week, as they held VT to 2 of 13 on third down.

Have the Seminoles permanently overcome those flaws, or was it more a byproduct of Virginia Tech’s shortcomings?
