When it was reported that former UCLA Bruins point guard Jrue Holiday would be traded to the Boston Celtics, it was received with mixed emotions.
Of course, UCLA fans will continue to root for Holiday’s success, but he will now be playing for an arch-rival for many of them. But Holiday is now with the Celtics, who appear to be one of the finest teams in the NBA.
He provides them with a legitimate point guard to run their squad, which they have been looking for for several years. When the Milwaukee Bucks sent Holiday to the Portland Trailblazers, they probably didn’t anticipate him to be traded to their biggest threat in the Eastern Conference, but here we are.
This season, Holiday will be playing against Milwaukee rather than for them. And this has the potential to make things very interesting in the Eastern Conference. The former Bruins point guard should be in for a great year in Boston, and he will be competing for another NBA championship. Fans will root for his success but may find it hard to root for the overall success of the team he is playing on this year.
