Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt suffered gruesome injury in Week 5, remained in game
There is absolutely no questioning the toughness of Pittsburgh Steelers star edge rusher T.J. Watt and other football players. They put their bodies on the line every time they take to the field.
Watt is the most-recent example of this. During Sunday’s hard-fought and physical win over the rival Baltimore Ravens, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year favorite badly dislocated his finger and tore multiple ligaments.
According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, Watt simply popped the finger back in place and kept on playing. The injury will not impact one of the game’s best edge rushers following Pittsburgh’s much-needed Week 6 bye.

No. They are not like the rest of us. Just imagine tearing multiple ligaments, popping your finger back in place and continuing to play a violent game such as football.
T.J. Watt stats (2023): 15 tackles, 15 QB hits, 8 sacks, 7 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles
As you can see, Watt is off to an absolutely brilliant start to the 2023 season. In fact, he’s on pace to destroy the single-season sack record with 27. Hall of Famer Michael Strahan holds the record with 22.5.
Watt’s performance has helped the Steelers start this season with a 3-2 record despite their offense ranking 29th in scoring and 30th in total yards. He’s one player Mike Tomlin’s squad can’t afford to see sidelined to injury.
Following their Week 6 bye, the Steelers take on the Los Angeles Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. We can expect Watt to be on the field for those games after he gets some much-needed rest over the next week-plus.
