Report: Brendan Rodgers release the list of Celtic players he loved to Coach this summer

Brendan Rodgers has handled several exceptional players throughout his two stints at Celtic. Kieran Tierney, Moussa Dembele, and Odsonne Edouard come to mind, but the Irishman has chosen one player he would want to have coached.

In a Twitter Q&A with Celtic fans, Rodgers was asked to select one player from any period of the club that he would have wanted to have coached. Paul McStay was the player named by the double-treble-winning manager.

McStay spent his whole career at Parkhead, making over 500 appearances for the Bhoys. The now 58-year-old is a true club legend, and Rodgers heavily praised him.

The Irishman spoke on Celtic’s YouTube channel. He said: “I always say Paul McStay because of the quality and the genius he had in the game and the love he showed when he played for Celtic. So to have someone like that in your team that inspires others so I’d have to say Paul.”

Albeit they were involved in the game in completely different eras, it would have been intriguing to see Rodgers manage McStay. The current boss of the champions is one of the best personal, one-on-one coaches out there and he would have likely worked wonders with the Scotland great. Maybe in another life.

Reo Hatate Transfer Latest

Reo Hatate tells Celtic something he'll NEVER do but top asset can see him turn Parkhead dominator - Daily Record

As the summer transfer window enters that final few weeks, Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate’s future remains uncertain, with rumours of interest from English Premier League clubs continuing to circulate.

Hatate, who has become a key figure in Celtic’s midfield since his arrival, has been refreshingly candid about his future. The Japanese international has openly discussed the possibility of a move away from Celtic Park, stating that he would be open to exploring his options should a suitable bid come in

However, according to a report by Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail, no formal bids have been made for Hatate throughout the summer. This comes despite the player’s impressive performances in the Scottish Premiership and the Champions League, which have reportedly caught the eye of several Premier League scouts

Complicating matters further is Hatate’s recent injury setback. The midfielder suffered a torn calf in Celtic’s recent match against Aberdeen, an injury that is expected to sideline him for approximately one month. This timing could potentially deter would-be suitors, who may be hesitant to invest in a player currently unable to take to the field.
