The Parramatta star is facing the worst-case

Clint Gutherson, captain of the Parramatta Eels, believes Dylan Brown will be out for up to eight weeks, bringing the Eels’ 34-year premiership drought to an end.

After Brown played 55 minutes before leaving the field with a syndesmosis injury in round 16, Eels coach Brad Arthur has chosen Jai Field to partner Mitchell Moses in the halves against the Warriors on Sunday.

Gutherson, on the other hand, claimed that the Eels were prepared to remain without Brown until the finals series, before adding that whoever fills the void must “come out and try to make it their own” as the Eels look to rebound from an embarrassing 38-0 loss to Souths.NRL 2021: Clint Gutherson contract extensions, $1 million, Parramatta Eels, Brad Arthur

“Dyl is a big loss; he showed how tough he is over the weekend.” “On the weekend, he played the majority of the time and made some big plays and covering tackles,” said Gutherson.

“He’s still young, and you don’t want to subject his body to anything it shouldn’t be subjected to.”

“He has a long career ahead of him, and whoever steps into that role will do a good job for us.”

and has been assigned a “indefinite” return date by the club.

“We’ve still got Mitch there to guide the team around.”
Brown’s setback, along with Parramatta’s poorest performance of the season against the Rabbitohs, has many analysts questioning their premiership prospects.

Over the previous month, the Rabbitohs onslaught at Bankwest Stadium was fueled by scrappy wins over the Storm and Sharks, as well as a setback to the Dragons.

“It wasn’t up to scratch, they put 38 points on us and against any team that’s not what you want especially with how good our defence has been,” Gutherson went on to say.

“It’s a simple fix for us; we know what we need to do and examined ourselves after the weekend’s performance.”

“We’re not looking into it too thoroughly because no one else can fix it.”

“We have to come in with the right attitude and get a good start.” We let them off the hook far too often last week by playing the football they wanted to play.

“They torched us all game and it was embarrassing and disappointing.”

The Eels gained a boost earlier this week when it was confirmed that team players Daniel Alvaro and George Jennings, who are on loan with the Warriors, will not stand up against them on Sunday.

Marata Niukore is also set to return after a week’s absence.
