Nottingham Forest striker Dale Taylor was praised after he helped Northern Ireland beat San Marino 3-0 at Windsor Park. The young talisman was making his first competitive start for his country.
The Green and White Army claimed a comfortable victory against the international minnows. Although they won’t be qualifying for next summer’s tournament, Michael O’Neill will want his team to finish with a flourish.
During last night’s game, John O’Neill heaped praise on the performance of Taylor. The player is currently on loan with Wycombe in League One and will have enjoyed this maiden start for his country.

This will have been a proud moment for Taylor and his family. It was almost the perfect night for the talented Forest youngster too as he saw a goal ruled out.
O’Neill was very impressed with the striker. During the game, he told BBC Sport: “Taylor had a great game, the only thing is that the opposition is going to be stronger and better on Tuesday and Michael will have to look at that. For his first start though Taylor did really well.”
The 19-year-old will now hope to claim more caps as he progresses as a player. Northern Ireland face Slovenia on Tuesday and it will be interesting to see if Taylor keeps his place.
Taylor has bright Forest future
The Reds signed the talented forward from Linfield and he’s progressed through the youth ranks at Forest. During the promotion-winning campaign of 2021/22, he actually made the bench for the senior ranks.
During the second half of last season, he made an impact on loan at Burton Albion. Now, he’s secured a move to Wycombe and he’s doing well in League One.
Taylor is fancied by Steve Cooper as a burgeoning starlet for the future. As a result, it does seem only a matter of time before he gets a chance at Forest and it will be very interesting to see how he continues to develop.
