HONEST WOLVES ADMISSION BY TOMMY DOYLE AFTER TRANSFER FROM MAN CITY

Tommy Doyle wants to see more action for Wolves when the Premier League resumes following the international break.

Doyle joined Wolves on a season-long loan from Manchester City in the summer, but he has had to wait until now. To date, the teenage midfielder has made three appearances for Gary O’Neil’s side, including two substitute appearances in the league against Liverpool and Luton Town, as well as one start in the Carabao Cup defeat against Ipswich Town.

The 22-year-old, who was a member of England’s Under-21 team that won the European Championships last summer, has had a full week of training at Compton Park while many others have been away representing their country. With Mario Lemina suspended for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth, Doyle has a chance to push his claim.

With Mario Lemina suspended for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth, Doyle has a chance to push his claim.

He doesn’t mind competing for a spot in the team, telling the club’s official website: “It’s fine because I knew that would be the case.” I didn’t really have a pre-season, and I came to the club with a little bit of an injury I’d had since the Euros, so I knew I’d have to come up to speed and get to the level that I’m still at.

“But hopefully soon I will be able to get some more minutes. I’m just trying to get some minutes on the pitch. I’ll keep working hard, keep proving myself to the manager, keep working hard every day, and then we’ll see where that takes me.”

Despite limited time on the pitch, Doyle is enjoying life at Wolves so far. “It’s been good, I’ve really enjoyed it,” he said. “Everyone’s helped me settle in well and the lads and the staff are really good.
